Based on a nationally representative sample, a 1400 is at the 97th percentile. Thus, for most students, a 1400 is a very good score. SAT scores, however, should always be assessed within the context of the individual student’s goals. For example, a 1400 is below the average score of students enrolled at some highly selective universities.
